On behalf of the American people, who still cherish diplomacy, decorum, and decency, we’d like to extend our heartfelt apology to the rest of the world, who also values such practices.
The spectacle, for that is the only rational way to describe what we witnessed unfolding in the Oval Office, was and will forever remain an embarrassment and stain on the once proud and good character of the United States.
That a President and Vice President could engage another world leader, one who is leading a fight for the very survival of his sovereign nation from the onslaught of Russian aggression, as if they were a gang intent on intimidating others is unforgivable.
Neither of these two representatives of the American people acted in a manner fitting their positions. Instead, they were schoolyard bullies ganging up in an obviously planned and unwarranted attack.
President Zelensky’s ability to maintain his composure speaks volumes of his personal integrity. He could have descended into their level of immaturity, but he chose to act with calm and composed rationality.
The reality of our contribution to Ukraine compared to the EU and the individual country members is much different than the shouts and taunts offered by the President and Vice President.
We have contributed $128 billion compared to $124 billion by the EU and individual members. Of those totals, one must remember that the $71 billion in weapons and equipment was purchased from American weapons manufacturers. The war in Ukraine has been good business for these companies. Now, we did send these weapons to Ukraine, and it is the most of any nation, but contrary to what was said at this farce of a press conference, we are not the only ones supporting them.
So we are sorry, Ukraine and the rest of the rational world, for the behavior of our churlish and childish President and Vice President.
We are sorry.

Well said, Joe B. What you have written needs to be felt and said by all Americans. Here’s hoping at least a majority of us do so.

Putting it all into a neat little word salad is difficult. I was horrified and disgusted, it invoked such anger and the want and need to scream and hit both of them, our representatives to the world. To think that we cannot do anything to end this tyranny makes me ill.
